My Student Veteran Journey

So you just got out of the service and now you are at home bored and asking WHAT NOW?!
Go to school foo! Lean on your veteran community! This community has given me so much and I am grateful which is why I created this website. Leaning on your veteran community can provide invaluable support and knowledge, as I experienced firsthand. After my time in the service, I decided to pursue higher education and enrolled in community college. I enrolled in community college because I had been out of school for years and needed to ease back into being a student.
While walking on campus, a fellow veteran approached me, asked about my veteran status (Most Marine Corps Veterans have a certain look!) and informed me of the Post 9-11 GI Bill. He guided me to the Veterans Resource Center at El Camino College, this was a transformative moment for me. Initially, I walked in with little understanding of the resources available, but when I left El Camino College I was enriched with a wealth of information that has significantly shaped my educational journey. I realized that building connections and actively seeking help within my community is a strategic approach that not only aids personal growth but also fosters a sense of belonging and shared experience among veterans.
Leveraging my veteran community, I set my sights on transferring to the University of Southern California (USC) where I knew I belonged. After strategically getting accepted into USC, I once again invested and immersed myself into the veteran community but this time at USC and it has given me 10x in returns. I have met life long personal connections and learned more about the veteran community than ever before! In these blogs I aim to educate and empower veterans on their well-deserved benefits!
